NOSE - A bright and lifted bouquet with lovely floral notes, combined with hints of white pepper. Complexity develops further in the glass with dense blackberry and dried herbs. PALATE - A very elegant and balanced wine. Delightful palate weight, more medium than full bodied, with layers of dark fruits and dark chocolate, with lovely herbal notes of dried bay leaf and a flinty mid palate. The tannins are firm, silky and polished with a long and even finish

"An outstanding new release that is part of the Planted Series. It was sourced from an 84-year-old block in the famous parish of Kalimna, benefiting from a late cooler vintage which has suited this elegant and seductive style. Power in abundance, but the bright energy of the nose and palate brings a degree of elegance and refinement. It’s a wine that flows effortlessly to a long finish with its engaging mix of blackberry and plummy fruit merging with a chocolate, spicy dried herb combination. A supreme example of old vine Barossa shiraz"

"A stellar offering from St Hallett, featuring shiraz sourced from the 1936 plantings of the Marschall Old Block. There is a sense of compression on display, but it's sleek and graceful and fresh as a daisy, showing elegant structure and fine, lacy minerality. Finely poised doris plum and blackberry fruits are undercut by an array of fine spice, along with hints of brown spice, blueberry pie, panforte, bay leaf, black pepper, dark chocolate dipped cherries, cocoa nibs, raspberry coulis, cedar, tobacco and earth. Its subregional voice is crystal clear; the tannins are silty and powder-fine and that finish sails on for some time. What a terrific wine."

"...A ominous bottle in a royal looking box the wine surprises and delights with subtly and chiseled detail. A mosaic of red fruits, persimmon, goji berry and dried raspberries. Which leads to the undercurrents of earthly persuasion rooibos tea, pulled red bark and gumnut. There is pepper berry, frankincense and bay leaf. A slurry of silty tannins and all held upright with elongated lines of acidity. After dinner edibles of espresso, cigar cuttings and quality chocolate linger on the palate. This is a wine for savouring and the slowing down of time. Perhaps with slices of roast beef, then aged cheddar and chocolate mousse for afters. It will go the entire distance of a long multi course meal. Drink now and will cellar well for another 8 years or so."

"A deep and plush ruby colour in the glass. Mixed forest berries, rosemary, and curing beef aromatics. It is powerful but not overbearing, a deft touch allows it to sit with a freshness that belies its intensity. Red and blue fruits are bound in dried rosemary, bay leaf and deeper nori notes. Tannins sit underneath, ensuring it stays on song without gripping too firmly. It is a seamless package, on the medium side of full for the region but all the better for it. Give it time to breathe and enjoy its style and grace as it unfurls"
